Iran holds ultramarathon in hottest place on earth

Dozens of runners from ten countries alongside Iranian athletes took part in the race, named Silk Road ultramarathon.

Iran has held ultramarathon in Shahdad Desert, the world's hottest place. Dozens of runners from ten countries alongside Iranian athletes took part in the race, named Silk Road ultramarathon.

The multiday race was in two categories of 150 and 250 kilometers. The ultramarathon was held in Kerman’s Shahdad, which has registered record temperature of 70.7 degrees Celsius. The region is located in the Lut Desert.
