Iran snooker team wins title at Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games

The Iranian men’s national snooker team has demonstrated splendid performances at the ongoing 5th edition of Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Turkmenistan, and picked up the trophy at the international tournament.

On Sunday, Iranian cueists Hossein Vafaei Ayouri, Soheil Vahedi and Amir Sarkhosh, who had defeated the Afghan outfit (Zmaray Hasas, Salih Mohammad Mohammadi and Mohd Rais Sanzai) 3-1 in their semi-final fixture in the Turkmen capital city of Ashgabat the previous day, trounced their Qatari counterparts Ahmed Saif, Ali Nasser al-Obaidli and Khamis Nasser al-Obaidli 3-0.

The 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which is the 5th edition of the continental tournament, opened in the Turkmen capital city of Ashgabat on September 17, and will finish on September 27.

Turkmenistan is on the top of the medal count table with 196 medals (77 gold, 54 silvers and 65 bronzes).

The Islamic Republic of Iran has claimed the second spot with 78 medals (20 gold, 15 silvers, 43 bronzes), while China is on the third with a total of 50 medals (17 gold, 18 silvers and 15 bronzes).

Uzbekistan, Thailand, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Kyrgyzstan have earned the 4th to 10th places respectively.
