Real Madrid have failed to grab a crucial three points at home, suffering a shock 1-0 defeat against Real Betis.

Portuguese ace Cristiano Ronaldo, who returned to action after serving a five-game ban, was unable to score for the first time in 74 matches for Madrid.

Los Blancos just couldn’t open the scoring in the first 45 minutes of the Wednesday encounter and after the break, it was the visitors who used their chances better to finally take the lead in extra time when Antonio Barragan crossed for Sanabria to guide a perfect header into the bottom corner.

With the win, Real Betis moved up to the 6th place in the standings, one point above Real Madrid who now trail leaders Barcelona by seven points.
