Everton forward Wayne Rooney has been banned from driving for two years, after pleading guilty to drink driving in a British court on Monday.

The former England captain was arrested by police on September 1, while driving over the prescribed alcohol limit, in the northwestern county of Cheshire.

In addition to the driving ban, he was handed a 12-month community order, with over 100 hours of unpaid work. Rooney has apologized for his un-acceptable behavior.

The 31-year-old retired from international football in August, ending a 14-year-stint, in which he became England's top scorer player with 53 goals.
