The Iran women’s national under-20 football team has sustained its third defeat at the 2017 Chinese Football Association (CFA) International Women’s Youth Football Tournament, going down to the US side.

On Thursday, the Iranian sportswomen slumped to a 0-5 defeat against their American counterparts at the Qiannan Fitness Center Main Stadium in the city of Duyan, located nearly 910 kilometers northwest of Guangzhou.

The fixture marked just the second meeting between Iran and the United States in women’s soccer.

The US national under-16 football team met the Iranian side at the 1st Women’s Tournament Delle Nazioni in Italy in April 2016, and won that historic match 6-0.

The CFA International Women’s Youth Football Tournament opened in Duyun, China, on September 2, and will finish on September 15, 2017.

The sports event features the women’s national under-20 teams of host China, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Japan and the United States.
