US threats to make North Korea more determined: Pundit

A geopolitical analyst says the American sanctions policy against North Korea is set to strengthen the determination of Pyongyang to continue its nuclear and missile programs.

“Making threats and accusations is not going to resolve anything” and “of course the more threats that have been made, the more the North Koreans would resist,” James O’Neil told Press TV on Thursday.

The United States should stop imposing sanctions on North Korea instead of urging Pyongyang to halt its nuclear program, the analyst said.

North Korea, under mounting international pressure over its missile and nuclear programs, says it needs to continue and develop the programs as a deterrent against hostility by the United States and its regional allies, including South Korea and Japan.
