Catalonia’s parl. approves controversial referendum bill

Catalonia’s regional government has signed a bill approved by the region’s lawmakers that allows a referendum on independence from Spain. The leader of the Catalan regional government has announced October the first as the date for the vote which is considered as illegal by the central government in Madrid.
