UEFA Champions League qualifier: Hoffenheim 1-2 Liverpool

Liverpool win

Liverpool have edged past their German hosts Hoffenheim 2-1 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League qualifier.
The Reds were lucky after Belgian goalkeeper Simon Minoyleh managed to save a penalty in the 10th minute on Saturday.

Towards the end of the first-half, Trent Alexander Arnold sent a 25-yard free-kick low into the bottom corner to put his side ahead.

Hoffenheim defender Havard Nordtveit was unfortunate enough to score an own goal in the 74th minute to give the Merseyside Reds a 2-nil advantage.

But, Mark Uth’s late goal in the 87th minute, gave the hosts some hope ahead of the return leg that will take place at Anfield next week.
