Elephants have come to rescue humans who were struggling with heavy rain and floods.

The giant animals helped hundreds of tourists to get out of the Chitwan safari park in Nepal. The area is popular with foreign tourists mainly for rhino watching and elephant rides. A river near the park overflowed its banks, inundating hotels and restaurants and leaving some 600 tourists stranded.

Nepal is currently dealing with heavy flooding caused by torrential monsoon rains. As a result of the bad weather condition, more than 70 people have died in recent days. The rainy season normally hits the country hardest between June and August.
