Zverev stuns Federer 2-0, wins Rogers Cup

Alexander Zverev

Alexander Zverev has won his 2nd ATP Masters 1000 title, by beating the Swiss maestro Roger Federer in straight sets in Montreal, Canada.
The 20-year-old German posted a 10th straight victory, and ended Federer's 16 match winning streak.

The World No.8 used some sharp ground-strokes to keep the Swiss from taking control early on, and got the only service-break he needed to Win the first set 6-3 in 30 minutes. The 19-time Grand Slam Champion started to find his usual form early in the 2nd, but suddenly appeared out of sorts.

Instead, Zverev broke in the 7th game, to pull ahead 4-3, and then held on to take the set 6-4 for a surprise win that took 68 minutes. With the loss, Federer missed the chance to level with Ivan Lendl, who is still the 2nd best tournament winner with 94 wins. Jimmy Connors tops the list with 109 victories.
