Rouhani warns US

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani has criticized the US efforts to undermine the nuclear deal between Tehran and the P5+1 group of countries. Rouhani said the nuclear agreement, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, is beneficial for the region and the whole world. He warned the US if it tries to stand up against the deal, the whole world will stand up against Washington. Rouhani noted that any effort by a government to damage the JCPOA will backfire. The Iranian president also rejected the US claim that the JCPOA only benefits Iran. Rouhani described the agreement as a win-win deal.

Unbearable costs on Israel

The secretary general of Lebanon’s Hezbollah has warned Israel that it will pay a heavy price in case of staging a military campaign against Lebanon. Nasrallah was delivering a speech on the anniversary of the end of Israel’s 33-day war on Hezbollah in 2006. He said the Lebanese resistance movement has become stronger since that war. The Hezbollah leader stressed that all those who believe by hitting the axis of resistance they can crush the movement will be completely disappointed.

US fatalities in Iraq

Two US troops have been killed and five others injured during combat operations in northern Iraq. The US military has said initial reports indicate that the deaths were not due to enemy contact. The American service members were part of a US-led coalition fighting Daesh in Iraq. The group has claimed credit for an attack on US troops west of the Iraqi city of Mosul. Washington has deepened its involvement in ground operations in Iraq since President Donald Trump took office in January.

Racism in US

Protesters have marched across the United States to condemn widespread racism in the country following a deadly white supremacist rally in Virginia. In Seattle, police made arrests and confiscated weapons as Donald Trump supporters and counter-protesters converged in downtown. Protesters also rallied in New York City to condemn the administration for letting white supremacists feel empowered. Elsewhere, demonstrators denounced fascism and called for the removal of Confederate monuments, which initially prompted the violent rally by white nationalists in Charlottesville. President Trump came under bipartisan criticism after he failed to explicitly condemn the white nationalists for Saturday’s outbreak of violence in Charlottesville. The White House later tried to placate critics, saying Trump’s vague condemnation of many sides included Ku Klux Klan, neo-Nazi and all extremist groups. It said the president denounced all forms of violence, bigotry and hatred.

Meeting terror Leader

A senior delegation of US Senators has met with an anti-Iran terror group in Albania’s capital, Tirana. The American Senators held talks with the head of the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization terror group Maryam Rajavi. During the meeting, Rajavi welcomed Washington’s hostile approaches toward Iran, especially the imposition of new anti-Tehran sanctions. She also called for regime change in the Islamic Republic. The MKO has carried out numerous terrorist attacks against Iranian civilians and government officials over the past three decades. The terror group also sided with former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein in his eight-year war against Iran in the 1980s.

Israeli incursions

An Israeli group called Temple Institute has released a report, revealing that the year 2017 saw a significant increase in the number of settlers storming the al-Aqsa Mosque compound compared to previous years. The report comes amid heightened tensions between Israelis and Palestinians over the holy site. Mona Kandil reports.

Lebanon evacuations

Hundreds of militants who had been battling the Syrian army and allied forces are evacuating an enclave near Lebanon’s border with Syria. Scores of buses that got to the mountainous region of Arsal are carrying some 350 armed militants and their families to Syria’s territory. Media outlets of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah report they are heading to a militant-held town in Syria’s Eastern Qalamoun region. Around three-thousand Syrian refugees will also return to a government-held area across the border. This follows a recent swift Hezbollah operation that purged Nusra Front terrorists from the Arsal region. Only two enclaves held by Daesh terrorists remain in militant hands on the border. The Lebanese army is expected to lead an imminent offensive to remove a years-long terror threat to towns and villages.

Burkina Faso terror attack

Burkina Faso says the operation against the gunmen who attacked a Turkish restaurant in capital Ouagadougou is over. Communications Minister Remis Dand-jinou said however that searches of the neighborhood around the restaurant are continuing. He confirmed a total of 18 dead, with two terrorists killed. The victims came from different nationalities. Among the dead were at least one French and one Turkish nationals. The official said two of the attackers were killed by the security forces. Police say three or four assailants arrived at the restaurant on motorcycles and then began shooting randomly at the crowd. There has been no immediate claim of responsibility.
