This comes despite confirmation by the White House that the Islamic Republic is complying with the agreement. The International Atomic Energy Agency has also time and again confirmed Iran’s compliance. Despite that, the U-S recently approved a series of anti-Iran sanctions over Tehran’s ballistic missile program. Iran says the sanctions have violated the the JCPOA.

So far, 15 EU member states as well as Hong Kong and Switzerland have reported imports of contaminated eggs. The contamination is thought to have started in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, where producers illegally used Fipronil pesticide to treat poultry for lice. Trump threatens N Korea

US President Donald Trump has reiterated strong warning against military threats made by the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Trump emphasized Pyongyang should realize the gravity of his earlier comments that the military solutions were fully in place, locked and loaded should North Korea act unwisely. The war of words between the United States and North Korea has reached an alarming point amid attempts by other U-S officials to resolve the situation diplomatically.

Concern over Myanmar

The UN has expressed deep concern as Myanmar started sending hundreds of army forces to a northwestern state where government troops are accused of committing serious crimes against the local Muslim population. The UN special human rights reporter says the government must ensure that its forces respect human rights during their operation in the Rakhine state. Yanghee Lee stressed that the operation reminds her of serious human rights violations in the aftermath of former army operations. Lee added that authorities should address reports of killing, torture and rape of Rohingya Muslims by army forces. Security has been beefed up in Rakhine towns since several Buddhist monks were killed. Last year, Myanmar’s military conducted a brutal offensive against the Rohingya Muslims forcing 75,000 people to flee to neighboring Bangladesh. UN investigators say Myanmar’s alleged treatment of the Rohingya could amount to crimes against humanity.

Egypt train tragedy

Two passenger trains have collided west of the Egyptian city of Alexandria, killing nearly 50 people. The incident also left over 120 people injured. One of the trains, which had stopped en route to Alexandria, caused the crash. Egypt’s public prosecutor has ordered an urgent investigation. The collision is the deadliest train crash to hit Egypt since 2012. Back then, a train rammed into a school bus, killing 47 people.

The security workers are on a strike over low payment and poor working conditions. They have warned that the strike will continue if their demands are not met. The workers complain that understaffing forces them to work overtime.

Halt the executions

A number of Nobel Peace Prize winners have called on Saudi Arabia to nullify execution orders of 14 individuals sentenced to death for taking part in anti-government protests. In a letter, ten Nobel prize winners said 14 Shia Muslims were convicted in a mass trial and sentenced based on the actions of the worst defendant. They accused the Saudi monarchy of obtaining coerced confessions from the arrested protesters and subjecting them to physical force. Riyadh claims the defendants committed violent crimes as they joined anti-government protests in the country’s Eastern Province back in 2011 and 2012. Prominent human rights organizations accuse the kingdom of issuing death penalties to suppress dissidents and the opposition.

Yemen humanitarian crisis

Yemen says Saudi Arabia’s devastating war and blockade against the country may force the national blood bank to be closed within days. The National Blood Transfusion and Research Center in Sana’a called on all humanitarian organizations and financial donors to help support the facility. The bank has already warned that its medical supplies are running out and it will only be able to work for a week. The center treats some 3000 patients a month but the war, famine and Cholera has left it in urgent need for its basic supplies. Saudi Arabia imposed sanction on Yemen preventing food and medicine to enter the impoverished country since Riyadh launched its deadly war against Sana’a in March 2015.
