People who recently avoided death, have been carried in open coffins through a small town in Galicia, Spain.

The annual pilgrimage is for people who had near-death experiences and want to pay their respects to the saint of the town, Santa Marta. Those taking part in the procession pray and thank the saint.

During the walk, pilgrims sing religious songs and carry candles, with some walking on their knees to demonstrate their devotion.

Thousands of people from Spain and Portugal gather to watch the ceremony each year, which is believed to have started in the 17th Century.
