S Korea proposal for talks with North

Korea Talks

It’s been described as a blow to the policy of the United States toward North Korea: South Korea has offered to hold direct talks with its northern neighbor despite the tough rhetoric of the United States. According to a statement by South Korean officials, the talks are likely to take place at Tongilgak, a North Korean building situated in the truce village of Panmunjom which was also used for previous rounds of talks between the two sides. The initiative indicates that South Korea’s new president Moon Jae-in is trying to improve relations with the North. Since coming into office, US president Donald Trump has taken a hostile stance toward North Korea. Pentagon has ramped up US military presence in the Korean Peninsula. Back in March, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson announced that “the policy of strategic patience toward North Korea has ended”.

Saudi American agent

The US Congress passed the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act back in September 2016 despite strong objection from Saudi Arabia. JASTA allows victims of 9/11 attacks to file lawsuits against Riyadh in American courts. Since the passage of the law, Saudi Arabia has engaged in a massive lobbying campaign in the United States to counter the effects of JASTA. The multi-million dollar lobbying campaign has been done through Saudi partnership with U-S lobbying company Qorvis MSLGROUP. The effort involved paying American military veterans and officials to travel to Washington to warn lawmakers about possible consequences of the legislation on America. Some of those involved in the campaign say they were shocked to find out that they were hired by the Saudi regime to advance its interests at the heart of American politics. Now, there have been revelations about some of the key U-S agents involved in the Saudi scheme.
