Iran basketball team drubs India 88-44 in 2017 William Jones Cup

The Iranian men’s national basketball B team has pulled off a crushing victory at the 2017 William Jones Cup in Taiwan, thrashing the Indian contingent.

On Tuesday, the Iranian squad, which had slumped to a 78-88 defeat against South Korea the previous day, defeated the Indian basketball team 88-44 in another encounter of the international tournament at Taipei Peace International Basketball Hall in New Taipei City.

The Iranian sportsmen opened the game vigorously and well managed to assume the lead, and outnumbered the Indians 14-8 at the end of the first quarter.

The Persians upheld superiority in the second quarter, and took it by 23 points to 12.

The Iranian basketball players showed no sign of capitulation later on, and employed diverse attacks and blocks to clinch the third quarter 22-14.

The Iranians continued to emerged strong on all fronts in the final quarter as they had done throughout the game, and could record an overwhelming 29-10 win at last.

The Iranian men’s national basketball B team is scheduled to take on Canada on Wednesday.

The 2017 William Jones Cup started in Taiwan on July 15 and will run until July 23. The event is a top-level international basketball tournament of Fédération Internationale de Basket-ball (FIBA) Asia.
