Babies compete in New York's Diaper Derby

Kevin Bender of Dallas, Texas, holds up his 11-month-old daughter Brooke, the winner of the 2017 "Diaper Derby" crawling race.

Up to 30 infants have participated in New York's Diaper Derby, a three-meter crawling contest.

The 8th annual race for toddlers attracted many excited visitors. The athletes were between 6 and 24 months old.

From the sidelines, parents encouraged their babies with bottles of milk, television remote controls or key jangling. As the only rule in the contest, the kids were not allowed to get up.

Organizers say the three-meter race is unpredictable. Children might suddenly peg out midway, break down in tears or crawl off backwards.

In the end, an 11-month-old girl from Dallas, Texas came out the winner.
