Do British Muslims feel safe in the UK?
After the recent wave of attacks on Muslims in London, some are asking whether British Muslims are safe in the UK right now.
There have been increased hate crimes towards British Muslims recently, namely the horrific acid attack on two Muslims in East London and the murder of a Muslim outside Finsbury Park mosque, in which a man hired a van and ploughed into worshippers. In this episode we look at the rise in indiscriminate attacks in the UK against Muslims.
What worries Muslims also is the Islamophobic tone in the British mainstream press. The lack of reporting on hate crimes against Muslims is not the only problem; there is a dual reluctance to brand attacks against Muslims as “terrorism”, while attacks by white men are reported as anything but terror.
