Philando Castile was shot and killed in front of his family by a police officer in the US yet the police was found not guilty of any wrongdoing and now Edir Frederico Da Costa was killed after a traffic stop in the UK and the officers involved have not even been suspended from their duties, how long will black men continue to be killed with impunity by police in the UK and the US.

The police officer that killed Philando Castile was acquitted despite damning footage that appeared to show Philando Castile cooperating with police before he was brutally shot and killed in front of his wife and child.  The police officer that killed Philando Castile joins a long list of police officers that have been acquitted after killing a black man on camera. The question is why do they keep getting away with what appear to be unlawful killings of Black men and women even when caught on camera?

This issue is not exclusive to the United States, black men and women have been killed in the UK at the hands of the state yet there has yet to be a police officer charged or dismissed from his post as result of these killings.

The most recent case of this was Edir Frederico Da Costa a 25-year-old black man who died in mysterious circumstances following a traffic stop. The death has which happened in East London has caused a great deal of anger amongst the community and just this week there were riots in the area with a lot of anger directed at the local police for what was seen as another unlawful killing of a black man.
