Cyprus uses high-tech tools to search for missing people

Cyprus' Committee on Missing Persons has turned to high-tech tools and archive searches to speed up the process of finding the remains of those who disappeared during the 1960s crisis.

The group has found the remains of more than half of the 2-thousand Greek and Turkish Cypriot victims in recent years.

The country has invested in new technologies like the Geographic Information System, or GIS, that links all information gathered from archives, investigators and eyewitnesses to give a more exact estimate of possible burial sites.

Officials estimate the archival search will boost the inflow of information by up to 20 percent.
