World No. 1 Andy Murray has crashed out of the Aegon Championships after suffering a straight sets defeat at the hands of world No. 90 Jordan Thompson in the first round the competition.

This has been the first time since 2012 that Murray has lost his opening match at Queen's Club. Thompson, who had never faced the Scot before, recorded the biggest victory of his career, thanks to Murray’s stream of errors.

The Australian grew in confidence after claiming a tight first set and went on to grab the second with great ease, dispatching the defending champion 7-6, 6-2.

Murray is worried that the early exit could blow his chances in defending his Wimbledon title in less than two weeks.
