Defending champion Novak Djokovic has suffered a shock exit from the French Open, after a straight sets defeat at the hands of Dominic Thiem on Wednesday.

The Austrian rising star beat the Serbian ace 7-6, 6-3, 6-love. This defeat means that Djokovic will slip to No. 3 in the rankings next week.

This is the first time since 2010, that Djokovic has failed to make the last four at the Roland Garros. As for Thiem, the victory was a dream come true, and will go-on to face nine-time champion Rafa Nadal in the semifinals.
