Barcelona have appointed Ernesto Valverde as their new head coach.
The 2017 Copa del Ray champions confirmed on Monday that the longtime Athletic Bilbao manager will replace the outgoing Luis Enrique at the Nou Camp on a two-year contract.
Valverde was a former Barca forward and played two seasons for the Catalans back in the late 1980s when they were coached by the late Dutch great Johan Cruyff, who gave Barcelona their winning identity.
That’s while, Enrique leaves Camp Nou, having won nine titles out of a possible 13 in the three seasons with the club. Valverde's official introduction will take place on Thursday.
