French Open: Thiem beats Tomic in straights sets

Austria’s Dominic Thiem has cruised into the second round of the French Open following a straight sets victory over Bernard Tomic of Australia.

23-year-old Thiem showed a powerful performance in his first round match against his Australian rival on Sunday.

He won the match with a score line of 6-4, 6-love, 6-2 in a match that lasted for one hour and 21 minutes. He’ll next take on either a massive outsider, world number 463 Simone Bolelli, or home favorite Nicolas Mahut.
