NATO ISIL

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization, or NATO, was formed 24th August 1949, and was aimed at countering the Soviet threat to the West. Its ideology was simply to create a deterrent, and in the event of a conflict, each member state was obliged to assist another member during times of trouble. The Cold War has now well and truly melted, and the world has entered into a new world order in which the hegemonic control asserted by the US has caused all zones of influence in the Cold War to evaporate, and has left a power vacuum, which is seeking to be filled by numerous and violent non state actors.

No settlement freeze

Israel has once again signaled that it will not reverse its plans for building thousands of new settler units in occupied Palestinian territories. Soon after a visit by US President Donald Trump to the region, Israel’s minister for military affairs Avigdor Liberman said Tel Aviv does not need permission from America to build on Palestinian land. Liberman insists that when it comes to the issue of settlements, Israel only acts based on its own interests.
