Indian-controlled Kashmir has observed a shutdown to mark the death anniversary of 2 of its pro-independence leaders. Mirwaiz Maulvi Farooq and Abdul Gani Lone were assassinated by unknown assailants on May 21 in 1990 and 2002 respectively. Indian forces have imposed restrictions as their death anniversaries are marked in Kashmir.
