In the NHL, the Ottawa Senators have edged past the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 in game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals.
The visiting Senators got on the score-sheet first after Jean-Gabriel Pageau tallied his 8th goal of the playoffs. They kept their one-goal lead in the middle frame.
But, Russian centerman Evgeni Malkin scored to make it 1-1 with five minutes left in the game as it went into overtime when Bobby Ryan scored the winner for the Senators. Pittsburgh will next host game 2 on Monday.
