Each generation has its own special trait that makes it a legacy. The post second world war saw the baby boom generation, the 60’s saw expressionism, the 70’s brought rock culture, the 80’s and 90’ brought technology and connectivity to the world.

From just before and during the turn on the millennium, the generation that evolved became residents of a world that had changed vastly over the last several decades. The world’s population was growing, and the world had to get ready for it. The Millennials arrived in a period which had seen huge change. People were living faster, on demand lives, with everyday items only the click of a button away. No longer had one need to strive to obtain what they wanted, from online jobs, online degrees and online shopping, the developed world was becoming a lethargic place. However, the Millennials were not all in the same boat. Where is easy to fall into the trap of convenient luxury, other were taking a stance, and becoming self aware.

The ability to access resources, people and information across the world at the click of a button gave people a medium for information. Many began to use this form of ‘social media’ to share ideas, friendships and to educate themselves.

The recent election of President Donald Trump was a clear example in which Millennials used their environment to their advantage, with many learning about politics and current affairs, and them making their voices heard.

Technology obviously has a major impact in the world of the Millennials, which as mentioned, gave them access to a host of information, often to the point of an information overload. From social media, to gadgets, the Millennials were spoiled for choice when it came to making their lives easier. The culture of marketing and consumerism was also being modeled to suit the emerging fast-paced millennial generation. From the invention of smart computers, phones, cars and clothing, people were very aware of the potential market, and they were ready to reap the rewards.
