Iran golf team finishes runner-up in intl. amateur championship

The first edition of Iran International Amateur Championship Solidarity & Friendship Cup kicked off in Tehran on May 7, and wrapped up on May 9, 2017.

The Iranian men's national golf team has finished in the second place overall at the end of the first edition of Iran International Amateur Championship Solidarity & Friendship Cup.

On Tuesday evening, the Pakistani squad stood on the top podium. The Pakistani golfers were followed by Iranian and Bangladeshi counterparts in the second and third places respectively. 

Ahmed Baig from Pakistan won the title in the individual section. His compatriot Teymur Khan placed second, and Sajjad Karampour from Iran landed third.

The first edition of Iran International Amateur Championship Solidarity & Friendship Cup kicked off at Enghelab Sport Complex in the Iranian capital city of Tehran on May 7, and wrapped up on May 9, 2017.

The three-day tournament brought together golfers from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Lebanon and Pakistan.
