Persian Gulf Pro League

The Persian Gulf League season has come to an end with champions Persepolis suffering a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Siah Jamegan who escaped relegation while Esteghlal defeated Sepahan to finish as runners-up.

Persepolis manager Branko Ivankovic opted for a young lineup as they’d secured the title with three games to spare. However, at the other end, Siah Jamegan were fighting for their survival and managed to seal all 3 points in the 48th minutes through Rouhollah Seifollahi’s free-kick.

Elsewhere, Esteghlal came from a goal down to beat Sepahan 2-1 at home and finished runners up. Mehrdad Mohammadi put the visitors in front late in the first half. However, Jaber Ansari and Farshid Bagheri scored in the second half to complete the comeback for Alireza Mansourian’s men.

And at the end of the season this is how the league table looks like: Champions Persepolis collected 66 points from their 30 matches. They are followed by Esteghlal and Tractor Sazi on 57 and 56 points respectively.
Meanwhile, Saba Qom lost 2-1 to Esteghlal Khuzestan on the final day of action and are relegated to Azadegan League along with Machine Sazi.
