Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich have been held to a 2-2 draw by a stubborn Mainz side at the Allianz Arena.

After conceding an early goal on Saturday, the Bavarians managed to equalize in the 16th minute through Arjen Robben, who scored from close range to put his side back on track.

But, the visitors regained their lead five minutes before halftime when they won a penalty after Yoshinori Muto was brought down by Joshua Kimmich inside the box. Daniel Brosinski stepped up and slotted the ball low past the keeper to make it 2-1.

Thiago Alcantara, however, came to Bayern’s rescue after the break and leveled the match again by firing a low effort in off the left-hand post.

With this draw, the Bavarians opened more space for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga title race.
