NHL Playoffs: Rangers edge past Canadiens 2-1

The New York Rangers have defeated the visiting Montreal Canadiens 2-1 in the playoff series to level the contest at two games apiece.

The Rangers got on the score-sheet first after Jesper Fast scored his first playoff goal in the opening period. The Canadiens drew level through Torrey Mitchell with just two minutes left in the frame.

The Rangers then regained their one-goal edge on Rick Nash's goal for a 2-1 lead in the second period which lasted till the end. Montreal will host Game 5 on Thursday night.
