Borussia Dortmund's Champions League quarter-final clash against visiting club Monaco has been postponed following a trio of explosions close to the German football side's bus in western Germany.

The incident happened near the team hotel as the team were on the way to their stadium, Westfalenstadion on Tuesday.

Defender and Spanish international Marc Bartra was the only person hurt in the incident and has undergone surgery to repair a broken hand and remove debris caused by the shattering of a window on the team bus.

German police have released few details about the motivation for the attack but confirmed that it was a targeted assault on the team of Dortmund. The match is now rescheduled to be played at Dortmund's Westfalenstadion on Wednesday.
