NHL: Capitals 4-1 Maple Leafs

In the NHL, the visiting Washington Capitals have routed the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-1 at the Air Canada Center.

Lars Eller scored to give the visitors a 1-1 lead in the first period. The Capitals made it 2-0 on Kevin Shattenkirk's power play goal in the second period.

Washington extended their lead to 3-0 on Nate Schmidt’s goal in the third before Tom Wilson made it a 4-0.

The home side finally got on the score-sheet with a minute left to play on Mitch Marner’s power play tally and the Capitals wrapped things up 4-1.
