EPL: Liverpool beat Everton 3-1

In the English Premier League, Liverpool have continued their Merseyside derby dominance over Everton with a 3-1 victory at Anfield, a result that could have big implications in the race for a Champions League spot.

Senegalese Sadio Mane gave the hosts an early lead when he played a one-two with Roberto Firmino and finished off an angled run with a shot into the far corner. But, the Toffees struck back in the 28th minute through Matthew Pennington who scored in his first match for Everton this season.

Around three minutes later, Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho restored the hosts' lead with a wonderful finish. Belgian striker Divock Origi, who came on as substitute, scored the third on the hour-mark to seal the crucial victory for Jurgen Klopps men.

The victory was Liverpool’s 4th straight top fllght home win and moves them above Man City and into the 3rd place for the time being.
