Russian band makes music from ice

The Russian band.

A Russian percussion group is gaining popularity due to its unusual style of music.

The ‘Ethnobit’ band uses broken-up pieces of ice floe, stacked against or on top of each other on the frozen surface of a lake.

The artists only use their hands and slabs of ice as musical instruments. Since the concert is improvised, nobody knows for sure what type of music the band will perform.

Many factors can affect the performance, including the weather, the strength of the wind and the depth of the ice.
'Ethnobit' has been touring Russia in recent years, but the group has also started to attract fans worldwide, thanks to music videos they post online.
