Iran’s boxing team finishes third at 2017 Great Silk Way

The Iranian men's national boxing team has ranked third at the ninth edition of Great Silk Way international boxing tournament in Azerbaijan, having collected four medals.

On Friday and the final day of the competitions in the Azerbaijani capital city of Baku, Iranian contestant Iman Ramezanpour routed a representative from the host nation in the final fight of the over 91-kilogram category, and took the honors.

Omid Ahmadisafa scooped a silver medal for the Islamic Republic of Iran in the 49-kilogram class.

Earlier, Shahin Mousavi had emerged victorious in his third-place bout and earned the bronze medal in the 75-kilogram weight division.

Salar Gholami received a bronze medal in the 91-kilogram class as well.

The ninth edition of Great Silk Way international boxing tournament kicked off in Baku, Azerbaijan, on March 13, and will come to close on March 18, 2017.

The tournament featured boxers from various countries, including Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
