Man United beat Rostov, reach Europa League quarterfinals

Manchester United have advanced to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Europa League, after edging past Russian side FC Rostov 1-0 at old Trafford.

The Red Devils were held to a 1-1 draw in Russia in the first leg, but were dominant throughout the return leg, with Rostov offering little attacking threat, and generally relying on defensive and good fortune.

Jose Mourinho’s side were wasteful in front of goal for much of the match at home, but after an embarrassingly bad opening 45 minutes, Spanish midfielder Juan Mata scored the only goal of the match in the 70th minute to secure Manchester United’s passage into the last 8 of the Europa League.
