A French artist has made headlines worldwide after entombing himself inside a piece of rock.

Abraham Poincheval has decided to entrap himself inside a 12-ton limestone boulder at Paris’ Palais de Tokyo. The 44-year-old artist has carved out a hole inside the rock just big enough for him to sit up in.

The ironically cozy niche was also designed to have a nook that holds basic food supplies that Poinchevall can survive on for a week. People can talk to the artist through a crack or watch him through a monitor and some go as far as reciting poetry to him.

3 days into the project, the artist says in an interview that he actually feels quite comfortable despite the difficulties.

If he survives the ordeal, the artist’s next performance will be becoming a human hen and hatching a dozen eggs by sitting on them. He had previously attempted several other wacky performances such as spending a fortnight sewn-up inside a stuffed bear.
