Rio Open: Ruud beats Monteiro to reach semifinals
Norway's Casper Ruud has defeated Brazilian Thiago Monteiro 6-2, 7-6 in a quarterfinal match at the Rio Open.
The Norwegian won the first set easily, but the second was a lot more competitive that saw the pair go to a tiebreak.
Ruud controlled it and advanced to the next round of the tournament where he will face Pablo Carreno Busta in the semifinals.
