Eating fresh fruits and vegetables has always been recommended to those who want to stay fit. But a new study shows that eating 10 portions of them each day can even help you live a longer life.

A study conducted by Imperial College London has found that eating larger portions of fruits and vegetables could prevent nearly eight million premature deaths each year.

The study also revealed that certain fruits and vegetables can reduce the risk of cancer and heart disease.

According to the study, spinach, pepper and cauliflower can lower the risk of cancer, while apple, pear and citrus fruit, such as orange, can lower the risk of heart disease.

The scientists also found that fruits and vegetables could reduce cholesterol levels and blood pressure, and boost the health of our blood vessels and immune system.
