In a modern world, where traditional roots are easy to forget, Georgians are pushing forward a movement to revive ancient jewelling traditions.

A gallery in Tbilisi has recently been the scene of a movement to revive the ancient Georgian tradition of Cloisonne enamel art. The gallery is trying to save the art from dying out, by displaying hand-made vases, sculptures or tiles that are contemporary in creation but use simplified old-school methods.

It also holds a workshop to pass the intricate work on. The artworks come in a wide range of colors and types but they are all considered jewelry as they are made of precious stones or metals, and are coated with molten glass. Dating back to twelve hundred years ago, the Cloisonne art flourished in Byzantium.
