Manchester City have posted a 5-3 home victory over Monaco in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie in an eight-goal thriller at the Etihad Stadium.

The hosts took the lead through Raheem Sterling in the 26th minute but Radamel Falcao’s header and Kylian Mbappe’s powerful drive gave Monaco a first-half 2-1 advantage.

The Sky Blues, however, were gifted a way back into the game when Sergio Aguero punched the ball home from close range. But two minutes later, the Ligue 1 leaders restored their one goal cushion when Falcao scored his second of the night with a stunning chip.

Things were totally different from then on as the Sky Blues pushed forward relentlessly and staged an incredible comeback, scoring three goals within twenty minutes, to cruise to a 5-3 win.
