Borussia Dortmund have struggled their way into the quarterfinals of the German Cup by beating a stubborn Hertha Berlin 3-2 on penalties at the Signal Iduna Park.
27 minutes into the match and the visitors got themselves ahead through Salomon Kalou.
The Ivory Coast international received a great cross from his teammate and blasted the ball into the roof of the net to make it 1-0.
But Marco Reus grabbed an equalizer for the host only 2 minutes after the break to put his team back on track.
And from then on there were no sign of goals as both team finished 1-all in regular time.
The game had to be decided in extra time but the scoreline was replicated after 120 minutes and the match went into penalties where Dortmund took their chances better to win the match 3-2 and progress into the last 8 on Wednesday.
