NHL: Washington Capitals 5-3 Boston Bruins

The Washington Capitals have defeated the Boston Bruins 5-3 in the NHL.

The Boston Bruins went for their 4th straight win when they traveled to Washington to face the league-leading Capitals at the Verizon Center. The Caps, however struck first. Just three minutes into the opening period T.J. Oshie scored the first goal for the Caps.

Ten minutes later Washington went up 2-nothing after Niklas Backstrom scored his 14th goal of the season. But The Bruins battled back and tied the game on two power-play goals from Brad Marchand. The Capitals regained the lead with 15 seconds left in the second period.

Alexander Ovechkin scored the third goal for the hosts, while Brett Connolly and Evgeny Kuznetsov made two other goals for the Caps to keep its leading position.

The Washington Capitals will next travel to Montreal to visit the Canadiens.
