Digital stickers have become the latest sensation and a source of income in China with people spending outrageous amounts of time on social networks.

Digital stickers ranging from cartoon and animal characters to New Year symbols and celebrities have become a rising platform for creating considerable profit in China.

While the stickers are free of charge, sticker developers make profit from product licensing. The trendier stickers often become actual products such as plush toys, stuffed animals, and phone cases among other goods within months.

China’s top sticker makers thrive on large-scale investments from design to promotion, with some going as far as creating a whole show to make their characters really stick in people’s minds.

Some of the most popular stickers have reportedly been used over three-billion times, with around 150-thousand new downloads every day.
