Russia Paralympic team barred from 2018 winter games qualifiers

Russia’s Paralympic athletes will not compete in the qualifying rounds for the 2018 Winter Paralympic Games in South Korea, after the International Paralympic Committee declined a bid from Russia to permit them from participating.

The IPC Executive Committee discussed the case in the German city of Bonn and decided to reject Russia’s bid. They believe that the Russians have not implemented reforms to stamp out alleged widespread doping among the country’s athletes.

But despite the refusal, the RPC said it would continue to fight for its athletes within the framework of international law and will continue to train the Russian Paralympians for the upcoming games.
