A former amputee cat in Bulgaria can now play like other cats after undergoing a ground-breaking surgery.

Pooh, the cat has received brand new prosthetic paws during a revolutionary veterinary work in a Sofia clinic. The 10-months-old cat had lost all his feline abilities after a car accident but is now given a new life.

Pooh’s new legs are made of Bulgarian polymer and rubber that were implanted using a method called ITAP. The procedure includes attaching the prosthetic directly to the skeleton, letting it penetrate through the skin and form an impermeable seal.

According to the vet who performed the operation, this makes the prosthetic permanent. Doctor Zlatinov is reportedly the first vet in the country to successfully use the pioneering method.

The operation cost more than 16 hundred dollars and was paid by donations given to an animal rescue organization. Pooh is reportedly healthy and has regained all of his lost weight following the surgery.
