In the German Bundesliga, Bayern Munich have maintained their lead at the top of the standings by narrowly beating hosts Werder Bremen 2-1.

The Bavarian giants went ahead after 30 minutes on Saturday, when Arjen Robben fired an unstoppable shot into the back of the net to make it 1-nil.

Just seconds before the break, a stunning free-kick by David Alaba made it 2-nil for Bayern. Max Kruse pulled one back for Bremen after halftime, but it wasn’t enough as Carlo Ancelotti's men held-on for a record-breaking 13th consecutive league victory.
