Australian Open: Nadal beats Monfils in 4 sets, reaches last 8
Spain’s Rafael Nadal has advanced to his 30th Grand Slam quarterfinal, by beating Frenchman Gael Monfils, 3 sets to 1.
Nadal, who won the tournament back in 2009, fought hard to overcome the big-hitting French star on Monday.
He won the match with a scoreline of 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 in Melbourne, to reach his 1st Grand Slam quarterfinal since 2015.
The Spaniard will next face Canada’s Milos Raonic in the last 8.
