Andy Murray crashes out of Australian Open

World number 1 Andy Murray has failed to reach the quarterfinals of the Australian Open after suffering a shocking 3-1 defeat at the hands of Germany’s Mischa Zverev.

The 50th-ranked player showed an outstanding performance on Sunday as he defeated the 29-year old Scot with a score-line of 7-5, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 in a match that lasted 3 hours and 34 minutes.

Zverev, will next take on Swiss maestro Roger Federer at Melbourne Park. Murray joins six-time defending champion Novak Djokovic who got knocked out in the second round after losing to Denis Istomin in five sets.
